Milwaukee - 02.10.04 Dear fellow gun owner: Just last week, Governor Doyle was complaining to the media that certain members of the legislature were putting gun issues over the issues of jobs, health care, and education. Yet, just a few days after his boisterous media complaints, he has decided to launch a web site that specifically deals with the gun issues at hand last week. He has now made the issue of gun rights a centerpiece of his legislative campaign for this fall's elections, and for his own reelection campaign in 2006. Don't hold your breath waiting for the media to ask why he is now more interested in gun issues than jobs, health care or education. You can view his web site at www.noconcealedweapons.com. Just as Governor Doyle has done in previous elections, he's now trying to turn each faction of the gun community against each other. Even worse, he's trying to use this web site as a tool to drive a wedge between law-abiding citizens and law enforcement. He's trying to paint those of us who obey and respect the law as would-be criminals. What's even more telling is where his requests for donations will go. The donations aren't going to the campaigns of Democrat legislators who sided with gun owners. The donations are going to Jim Doyle. Doyle's web site is a first in Wisconsin politics. Never has a governor been so desperate to cover his backside that he's launched a web site railing on a particular issue in order to raise money. Is Governor Doyle running scared? You bet. So, let's keep him running scared. Our political action committee, the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Movement, has raised several thousands of dollars over the past three years to help real pro-gun candidates win their elections. And, with your support this year, we'll fill the Capitol with even more pro-gun legislators. Governor Doyle is a powerful man but, in the end, he is just one man. We are many. Unlike Governor Doyle's "noconcealedcarry.com" campaign, we don't have any high-paid staffers. In fact, nobody at the WCCM is paid a dime for their work. We do it because we believe it's right. Unlike Governor Doyle's campaign, we make no secrets about where the money is going: our State Elections Board filing reports are available to anyone online, or even over a cup of coffee. Where Jim Doyle's money from his web site goes will be a mystery until well after the November elections. We make our finance reports available at any time, and to anyone. We're honest. Doyle is not. We're open to scrutiny. Doyle is not. We have principles. Doyle does not. We care about the future of pro-gun legislators in Wisconsin. Doyle does not. We care deeply about the interests of every gun owner. Doyle does not. We ask you to send whatever amount you can afford--whether it's $10 or $100 or more--to help elect pro-gun candidates this fall. Please send a personal check to: WCCM, 3263 S. 45th St, Milwaukee, WI, 53219. Come November 3rd, either Doyle or gun owners are going to win. Your contribution will help determine that outcome. Thanks, |
